Summer Programs for Icelandic Students
Application Deadline February 8th!
Fulbright Iceland, with the support of U.S. Embassy in Iceland, will offer two summer programs in 2024 for Icelandic high school students.
EducationUSA Academy is a two- to four-week academic enrichment program for 16- to 17-year-old students that provides participants with the experience of living on a U.S. campus and exploring the U.S. higher education landscape and options. In addition, students will have opportunities to improve their English skills in an immersive environment, learn how to prepare a successful college application, make connections with peers and teachers, and participate in cultural activities that will give them a taste of American life.
In the summer of 2024, EducationUSA Academy applicants can choose between programs in five different U.S. universities. More information about how to apply to EducationUSA Academy can be found on the Fulbright Iceland webpage.
The Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship (BFTF) is an intensive four-week program for students, ages 16-18, that addresses issues including youth engagement, democracy and civil society development, and economic prosperity. In addition to lectures, seminar discussions and presentations, the participants will enjoy site visits, social and cultural activities, and homestays with American families to deepen participants’ experience of U.S. society during their exchange.
The 2024 BFTF program is scheduled to take place in-person from June 22 to July 20 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. More information about the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship and application materials can be found on the Fulbright Iceland webpage.
For both EducationUSA Academy and Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellowship, costs of all U.S.-based activities of the exchange will be covered for the participant, as well as international travel. These opportunities are announced pending availability of funds.
