Staff update

Fulbright Iceland

Fulbright Iceland

The Commission wishes to acknowledge and thank staff members who have recently left Fulbright to pursue other opportunities. Randver Kári Randversson left last spring after five productive years with the Commission, during which time he worked both on Fulbright programs and as an EducationUSA adviser. Hjördís Jónsdóttir left after the summer holidays, she came in at a critical time to lend a hand as EducationUSA adviser and work on various other projects. We wish them well as they embark on new ventures. We would also like to thank María Helga Guðmundsdóttir, who came in as a consultant for a couple of months during the spring to help us during the start of the COVID crisis. Her assistance in managing the program and liaising with grantees was crucial during this challenging time.

The Commission welcomed two new staff members in late summer. Sigríður Jónsdóttir, M.A. in Social Anthropology, is the new EducationUSA adviser and executive assistant. She will also be responsible for all Icelandic student programs. Viktor Stefánsson, M.Sc. in Political Economy and M.A. in European Affairs and Public Policy, is a Fulbright program officer, responsible for US students, as well as scholars and specialists. Sigríður can be reached at [email protected] and Viktor at [email protected].
