Applications are now open for Fulbright grants for study and research in the U.S. for the 2027–2028 academic year.
New: Fulbright Grant for Master’s Exchange Students
Fulbright Iceland is pleased to announce a new grant for students enrolled in master’s programs at Icelandic universities. The grant gives eligible students the opportunity to spend one academic year on exchange at a university in the United States as part of their master’s studies in Iceland.
The application deadline for the 2027–2028 academic year is October 14, 2026.

We especially want to draw attention to the Cobb Family Fellowship for Icelandic graduate students (master’s or Ph.D.) in any field at the University of Miami. The recipient receives a stipend ($ 15,000) and usually an additional tuition break (might differ between departments), as well as a Fulbright grant. The University of Miami has an exciting array of graduate programs, many among the best in the U.S., so we encourage Icelandic students to explore of the University of Miami website. Request for Scholar
Applications are also open for the Request for Scholar program, which allows Icelandic institutions to apply to host a U.S. scholar for one semester.
The program offers Icelandic institutions an opportunity to bring U.S. academic expertise directly into their departments and strengthen teaching, research and institutional collaboration.
