Fulbright Forums Fall 2025
Fulbright Iceland hosted three Fulbright Forums at the Commission this fall semester. First up in mid-November was Fulbright Iceland-Ministry for Foreign Affairs Arctic scholar Nicole Record, who discussed her project on the substance use crisis and related issues in the high north. Comparing policies in Iceland and Maine, Nicole has been building bridges and avenues for cooperation on this important issue, to the benefit of both countries.
In late November, we heard from two scholars. Fulbright Greece-Iceland Arts & Design scholar Geoffrey Booras from Massachusetts College of Art and Design gave an overview of his fascinating experimentation with volcanic earth material in sculptures and ceramics. Fulbright Iceland-NSF Distinguished Arctic Research scholar Josiane Broussard, Associate Professor of Medical Sciences at Colorado State University discussed her important research with colleagues at the University of Iceland and University of Akureyri on the effects of sleep on physical and mental health.
Fulbright Iceland Distinguished Scholar in Cybersecurity & Critical Infrastructure Kim-Kwang (Raymond) Choo was the final presenter of the fall semester. He has been working with colleagues at the University of Iceland Department of Computer Science on designing cyber resilience solutions for real-world problems and scenarios.
