Inter-Country Travel Grant Collaboration

Heidi Pearson giving a lecture at the University of Iceland
The Fulbright Inter-Country Travel Grant allows U.S. Fulbright scholars in Europe to visit another European country for a brief visit.
At the end of June, Dr. Austin Hayes from University of Colorado Boulder and Fulbright Scholar to Norway came to give a talk at the Reykjavik University Department of Engineering on Additive Manufacturing and Computational Design. In November, Dr. Heidi Pearson, Professor in Marine Biology at University of Alaska Southeast and Fulbright Scholar to Portugal, was hosted by the Department of Environment and Nature Resources at the University of Iceland. At the end of November, a U.S. scholar to Iceland, Dr. Kim-Kwang Choo, visited the Brno University of Technology in the Czech Republic, where he met with faculty, researchers, and graduate students and gave a seminar on Cybersecurity.
All of the scholars involved were able to build valuable connections for themselves and their home institutions. The hosts got some great insights and were able to start to build new collaborations with U.S. academics and institutions. A true win-win with minimal cost.
